Culinary Arts Heads to State Competition

Wishing our Culinary Arts program a safe trip and the very best as they travel today to Williamsburg, Virginia for competition!

Over the past several weeks—despite inclement weather—the Culinary Arts class, led by instructor Janella Bradley, has held multiple mock trials to prepare. During these sessions, administrators and special guests sampled their dishes, offering valuable feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.

First trial judges: Chief Information Technology Officer Emily Reynolds; Chatham Middle School Principal Jessica Waller; and PCTC Principal Adam Louhoff.

Second trial judges: David Yanisko, Associate Professor of Practice at Virginia Tech, and Paul Kirschbaum of 1033Consulting.

Final trial judges: Division Superintendent Steven Mayhew; Assistant Superintendents Teresa Petty and Dr. Whitney Rinella; and Jonica Wilson-Carter, Clerk of the Board.

We are proud of the students’ dedication, hard work, and perseverance under the guidance of Mrs. Bradley. Students are traveling two days in advance to prepare and take advantage of the opportunity to explore the facilities, meet judges, learn more about the hospitality environment, and gain valuable hands-on experience. The competition will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, and we wish them great success!
